Chilly morning: 14 F/-10 C. Finally remembered to take a picture of the frosted panel of glass covering the cold frame. It changes everytime it thaws and then freezes again overnight. Variations on the same theme each time. I couldn't paint this well if I tried. It looks like growing plants to me. Do you think nature's trying to tell me something?
The spinach is doing remarkably well under there.

Wow that is really pretty!
there was a water color artist who would use the frost like that to help make wonderful pictures. What a great thing to wake up to every morning.
Totally awesome!
That is very, very cool. Just the little lift I needed this morning. Thank you for sharing it with us!
That is really pretty. It does look like it's growing.
Gorgeous - if only you could etch a pane of glass in the same pattern that would make for a heck of a window! Or vase, or bowl....
That is so pretty! I can't paint, but if I could, I would want to do that ;).
wow...how did the frost form to look like ferns....that is really cool and beautiful!!!!
Beautiful! Amazing what Nature does for us!
That is so pretty. i thought the tiny "feathers" we got this year were nice but that sure tops it.
It's been said before but I'll say it again: WOW!
Utterly lovely! I want to paint it and think I will!
Beautiful nature "paintings".
Glad you all liked it. I think it's pretty special too.
I suspect the unusual patterns have something to do with the fact that the glass is tilted, so that it's lower in front and higher in the back. The frost probably starts forming at the bottom where the cold air pools, and the patterns grow up the glass as higher points gradually drop below freezing.
That looks like nothing more nor less and a fern-filled tropical forest... only made of ice!
