Quickie

I'm in the middle of a blogging break, and will be for a few more days.  I've had to leave home for the funeral of a family member.  Last week was a bad one all around.

Thanks to all of you for the good wishes on my foot.  It's very much better.  I can walk on it without pain, though it still looks awful.

Condolences.
Travel safely. I hope your foot continues to heal and that you can snatch some joy during this difficult time, even if it's just a ripe tomato or a snuggle with the husband.

Just getting back from my honeymoon and checking in on all my favorite bloggers ( you are number one! So sorry to hear of your loss. Glad to hear your foot is mending. A few thoughts it brought up for me- the first is how important community is in, especially in tough times. I am blessed with wonderful close by friends who could have helped if I was in such a predicament. The other was that I am glad that you recognized that this was beyond your abilities to heal it yourself. So many in these circles are overly opposed to "modern medicine" but it has vastly increased our health and longevity. Infectious disease is still a major killer in the 3rd world and even in this one. Life without antibiotics would not be pretty, hope it doesn't come to that!
Keep getting better!

On the heels of an infection, a death. That's just so wrong.

Here's to resilience and optimism, and anticipation of your full recovery and return to posting.
